Hello and welcome to the Educational Justice & Appalachian Prisons Symposium’s site!
The Educational Justice & Appalachian Prisons Symposium will bring together people interested in higher education in prison, restorative justice, re-entry initiatives, and prison book projects. Funded by a West Virginia Humanities Council grant, the three-day symposium will feature national speakers and include roundtable discussions. By the end of the symposium, attendees will have enriched their understanding of issues affecting Appalachian prisons and will be ready to implement action plans related to educational justice.
At this website you will find general information about the symposium. A schedule of events and biographies of the symposium’s roundtable participants and evening keynotes will also become available on the site as the event approaches. Until then, please feel free to follow us by clicking on the “Follow” button to the left. You may also wish to visit APBP’s site at aprisonbookproject.wordpress.com.
